Safe Rx collaborates with state, local, tribal and federal government programs to help reduce the risks of medication misuse and overdose.
Many of our local government partners use grant funding to purchase the vials and hand out to their community at DEA take back day, Suicide prevention events, or in harm reduction kits. Oftentimes these grants are applied for collectively with many community partners such as health departments, police departments and youth prevention groups.

Moffat County Public Health purchased Safe Rx pill bottles because we wanted to make a difference in our community related to the opioid epidemic. Studies show that teen/children who experiment with drugs/opioids generally first get them out of their own medicine cabinets. Safe Rx helps to prevent that from happening. By supplying parents with Youth Prevention Kits (including Safe Rx pill bottles), we ensure that parents have the tools available secure to any medication that enter their homes.

Wyoming has the highest suicide rate in the United States, double the national average. Wyoming prioritizes reducing access to lethal means as a suicide prevention strategy. Research shows that most people end their lives with firearms, suffocation, and intentional overdose. Although the person attempting suicide may know the combo to their locking pill bottle, the fact that it adds an extra step to open the bottle means a small delay to allow time for a second thought.
